Harvest Festival (How the Superheros enjoyed Halloween)

This year, I have a house full of superheros.

Img_0208

Spiderman and Wonder Woman were all ready to check out our church's Harvest Festival on Sunday.

Img_0209

Img_0210e

Our church had a bouncy house this year.  Which was a hit with Spidey!  He could have cared less about Trunk or Treating.  He wanted to jump!

Img_0215

Once Wonder Woman voiced her opinion that she wanted to move on (as she couldn't be in the bouncy house) we tore Spiderman away to play games.

Img_0216

I guess he won!  Candy for everyone!

After games, we went Trunk or Treating.  Jax saw his Sunday School teacher who he just adores so we had to get a picture!

Img_0221
And afterwards, we headed back to the bouncy house!  (What else?)  And he loved the slide as well, since his costume was so slippery...he slid down fast!

Img_0227

The kids had a blast!  Jax even rode the ponies this year.  And Julie wanted to, she just needs to wait one more year.

On Halloween we took the kids to a Trunk or Treating event and then we went Trick or Treating at the mall! (Where it was warm inside!)

Img_0236
But can you see what is wrong with this picture?  (Beside the fact that Jaxson cannot take a "normal" picture!)

Christmas trees up before Halloween??

Anyways, the kids had fun and they have a bunch of candy that they can eat on for the next month!  Yikes!

Pre-School Letter Tt

Jax is 4 1/2 years old.

Bible

Our Bible verse this week was:  "Thou shall not steal, Exodus 20:8"  We cut and taped our Bible verse.  And painted it.  And cut and glued it back together.  All from RRSK and RRSP.

Math

Jax did a number maze by Busy Bee Kid's Printables.

The acorn number by dot is from Fall Fun printables from Homeschool Creations.

Sight Words

Jax working on his sight words from YCR.

Science

Since our theme this week was transportation, we did a science experiment with paper airplanes.  I first asked Jax what made airplanes fly.  He said people and wind.  We used this science experiment from Kids Activities Blog.  And we learned that it is the wings that help it fly.  People help drive the plane, and wind may help glide the plane further, but planes need wings to fly.  We played this forever.  He absolutely loved it.

Story

This week we read, Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rossen.  We used Going on a Bear Hunt printables from Homeschool Creations.  Here Jax is working on the 3 Part Cards.

The Value of a Dollar

Jax is very excited for an app that he wants to buy.  I told him that he would need to use his own money to buy it.  We counted out his coins in his piggy bank and he just needed 3 more quarters to get the app.

Last night I asked him if he wanted to clear off the dinner dishes to earn a quarter.  He said no.  But then thought about it and realized that he did want his quarter. As he was clearing dishes with me, he had an idea.

Jax:  "Momma, how about you buy the app with me.  You put some of your money for it and I will put some of my money with it and then we can share it.  We can both play it."

Me: (thinking) "Nice try Jax...."

In all honesty, that was brillant.  He did have a good idea, but there was no way I wanted to buy an app to learn my abc's... {ahem}

But I did inform Jax that when Julie gets a bit older, that she can buy apps with Jaxson and share as well.

Project Life Tuesday

Tuesday (16)

I think Julie loves lollipops!

Wednesday (17)

Julie's doggie must be with her at all times...even when she eats!

And then there were no more pictures.

I can't believe I didn't take any more pictures this week.  But in al fairness, I was dealing with sick kids (again?!) and there is just nothing cute about runny noses and whiny babies.

And so, I will give you a video of Jax playing his drums:

IMG_0116.MOV Watch on Posterous

The drums really aren't too loud....as long as he stays in his room and closes the door!

And now for a cute story:

Jaxson's Sunday School teacher told them that they have Jesus living in their heart.  So Jaxson asked me if that was true.  I said it was, but that it was Jesus' spirit in his heart to help him in his life.  But it wasn't an actually a person living in his heart.  He thought about that for a minute and then asked, "Does Jesus live in my feet too?"

I love his questions about Jesus.  It reminds me of this passage.

"People brought babies to Jesus, hoping he might touch them. When the disciples saw it, they shooed them off. Jesus called them back. “Let these children alone. Don’t get between them and me. These children are the kingdom’s pride and joy. Mark this: Unless you accept God’s kingdom in the simplicity of a child, you’ll never get in.”  Luke 18:15-18

Pre-School Letter Rr

Jax is 4 1/2 years old.

In the Driver's Seat.

I had to turn on the heater this morning.  Brr...it was cold.  My goal was to wait until November which really does not seem like a tough goal to meet.  However, we went from 80 degrees to 40 degrees in 2 days.  And guess what?  By the end of this week, we will be in the 70's again.  NC weather is a little bipolar.

So today, I dug out my boots and am trying to stay warm.  And tonight I will probably have another fire in the fireplace.  And I am sure that Jax will request to roast marshmallows like he did last night.

Img_0090

Making s'mores in the fireplace is not quite the same as doing it over a campfire.  But it'll do.

I mentioned earlier this week that I took the kids to McDonalds.  You would have thought I took them to Disney World.  A toy with my food?!  Hooray!

And Julie was diggin' the BBQ sauce.  She would only eat the fries with the sauce.  But after a while, I caught her doing this:

Img_0078

I guess she decided to do away with the fries at this point.  She is a character.

Jax always has funny things to say:

Abc

And finally, Julianne was "driving" the car the other day.  We were waiting on Justin and Jax to pick up our Papa Murphy's pizza (which I really miss that being across the street on the island, by the way.) and Julie wanted to drive.  It reminds me of that insurance commerical where the dad is talking to his daughter about safe driving and she is four years old.  And then when the camera pans back she really is 16.  I feel that it how it's going to be with these kids.

Project Life Tuesday

Tuesday 2

I made this yummy Brownie Batter Dip and it was a hit at the bookclub!

Wednesday 3

Jaxson dressed up like a pirate today and Julianne wanted to as well.

Thursday 4

2 Kings....I'm reading right along schedule and hopefully will keep all these different kings straight!

Friday 5

I took the kids to McDonalds.  It made their day.  Who knew that a trip there could make them so happy?

Saturday 6

The kids love to lick the beaters when I am done with them.  This time, they enjoyed cookie dough.  I'm so glad I only have two kids...cause I only have two beaters!

Sunday 7

No picture.

Monday 8

Brrr...it's cold out.  Going from the 80's to the 40's is not fun.  Glad that this won't last long.  But in the meantime, we started up a fire and Jax wanted to roast marshmallows!

What can I say, the kids love their couches.

Wednesday 26

We made homemade ice cream and Julie approves!

Thursday 27

My son, the Beatnik poet.

Friday 28

I took the kids grocery shopping and they absolutely love to sit on the paper towels.  I have no idea why.  But they keep their hands to themselves and are so happy!

Saturday 29

No picture.

Sunday 30

Justin caught this picture of Julianne running down the halls of church.  She was off to get Jaxson and me in Pre-School.  And she knew her way!

Monday 1

Justin snapped a picture of the kids working on Jax's bike.  Jaxson's bike seems to be in "repair" a lot!  Ha!

Jax is 4 1/2 years old.

Bible

Img_0063

Our Bible verse this week was, "Quench not the spirit"  1 Thessalonians 5:19.  We used RRSK  to cut out the Bible verse and taped it back together.  Also, we colored the picture and then learned the song.

Math
