2012 Goals Update {March}

I thought it might be time to do a little update...just to see how on track I am on my 2012 goals.  Here is my update for March:

Financial

Start putting money into savings. (Update: Nope.)

Starting a Christmas fund. (Update: Nothing yet.)

Vacation fund. (Update:  Got a little bit in there!)

School

Plan out the year with Tot School.  (Update:  Done!  I haven't been so great about blogging about it though.)

Home Management

Make a cleaning schedule and stick to it weekly. (Update:  Made the cleaning list.  Stuck to it one time this month.)

Personal

Books

Here is the list I want to read.  Again, I'm shooting under the table because if I finish this list, I can ADD MORE.  What a revoultion!

The Hole in the Gospel by Richard Sterns  (I started reading this in the beginning of March.  I'm still reading it.  It is a little boring and preachy.  I have a hard time to get motivated to read this when I have other books to read)

Real Marriage by Mark Driscoll  (Finished.  It took me almost all month to read this.  It was not interesting.)

Ministry of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson

The Hunger Games by Suzane Collins

The Help by Kathryn Stockett  (Fantastic book!  But after reading the book, the movie was very disappointing.)

Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen  (Finished.  Love, love, love it!  Can't wait to watch the movie.  It will probably disappoint me.)

The Choice by Suzanne Woods Fisher

More Lost Than Found by Jared Herd

Kisses from Katie by Katie J. Davis  (A great read about an amazing young lady following Jesus to Africa.  Highly reccomend!)

Radical by David Platt

Book read with YA Book Club at church:

1000 Gifts by Ann Voskmap (Highly recommend!)

Orthodoxy by G. K. Chesterton  (Reading this right now.  Lot's of great insight in this book!)

Books I've added on:

Bossypants by Tina Fey

Bible Study time

Memorize the book of James  (Memorized to verse 21.)

Mercy Triumphs by Beth Moore (Finished.  So good!)

Study Ephesians with Good Morning Girls.  (Done!)

31 Days to Pray for your Children from Keep it Personal

Whew...in just a month, I've accomplished a lot!

Easter Egg Hunt

Today our church had a Easter Egg Hunt for the kids.  They also had all sorts of fun activities...decorating cupcakes, crafts, and even the Easter Bunny was walking around!

Jax and Miss Maddy (one of his teachers in Sunday School) decorated a cupcake.

Img_0527
They let the little kids find eggs first.  This makes me laugh cause the eggs were in plain sight and yet most parents were having to help their kids.

Julie looks tortured here, but I assure you she did have fun.  Once she "found" the egg, she would immediately stick it in her mouth.

After the little ones, it was the bigger kids turn.  (Since when did Jax become a bigger kid?!?)  This was the four and five year olds.  It was funny to watch them as well.  They weren't too observant and I still had to help Jax out.  Oh, but he loved to find the eggs.  He was so excited that he found a really, really big Easter Egg!

Img_0535
After finding our eggs, we went to see what was in them!

Img_0537
Julie enjoyed her candy.

Img_0540
Jax played with his car erasers.  He was zooming them all over the table.  Afterwards, he went and made a cupcake for Julianne to take home.

Img_0543

Julianne saw the cupcake and wanted it right THEN!  But we waited until we got home before we let her dig in.  She was one happy girl!

Project Life Tuesday

Tuesday 20

After dinner, we took the kids to a nearby park.  Julianne LOVED the swings.  We would swing her so high and she would just giggle.  She's going to be Justin's buddy when he wants to go on roller coasters!  (And Jax still does not like swings!)

Wednesday 21

After dinner, we took Jax to a small "lake" nearby to throw some rocks in.

Thursday 22

Oh, this pollen is driving me insane.  You too?  We walked to the indoor park and Jax's shoe was covered in pollen.

Friday 23

No pic.

Saturday 24

This is a familiar sight in our house.  Jax watching Caillou....I've watched one too many Caillou's with him.

Sunday 25

Youth Sunday at church.  Great job guys!

Monday 26

Today we went down to Toys R Us and let the kids pick out one toy.  This brought back so many memories for me personally.  I remember when I was little going to Wenatchee to go shopping with my mom and sisters and we would get to go to Toy Parade and pick something out.  We helped Julie choose a corn popper push toy and Jax chose a sling shot.  Both him and Justin have enjoyed the sling shot.  (and maybe me too!)

Interview: Jax

I saw this on Pinterest and on many other blogs, but I finally sat down one night this last week and asked Jax some questions.  Oh, how I loved the answers!

Img_0147

What is your name?  Jaxson

How old are you? 4

What is your favorite color? red

Who is your best friend? Barney (He loves to imagine Barney is coming to our house!  I thought he would at least say his friends in Sunday School, but I guess Barney won out.)

What is your favorite animal? dinosaur

What do you want to be when you grow up? fireman  (Sometimes he will tell me that after he is done being a fireman, he will be a rockstar.)

What is your favorite movie? Cailou

What makes you happy? to see Barney (Again with that imagination!)

What makes you sad? cry (I think he thought I asked what happens when you are sad.)

What is your favorite food to eat? mac and cheese

What is your favorite song to sing? ABC's  (He requests this song every week in Sunday School.  I bet his teacher is thinking, "enough all ready with the ABC's!  Haha!)

What games do you like to play? car slide and puzzles  (Car slide is at Sunday School.  It's a big track where the matchbox cars slide down.  Hence the made up name!)

Teeny Tiny Tot School

Julianne is 12 months old.

Tot School

I'm slowly easing Julianne into Tot School.  During Jaxson's school time, she is usually asleep.  But after she wakes, I try to do an activity with her.  As time goes on, I'll add more for her.

But this week, we played with pom-poms, ice cube trays, and a container.

Img_0374
I showed her how to put one pom pom into the ice cube tray.

Img_0375
She really liked getting them out of the container.

Img_0376
But her favorite part was to dump them out all over the floor and pick them back up again!

And Jax had to get in on the fun!

Img_0380

{As a side note, always use caution when using small object with babies.  Julianne has texture issues so I wasn't worried about her putting them in her mouth.  But I could have never done this with Jax.  He would have ate them!)

Later on in the week, we changed out pom poms for cereal.

Julianne had fun eating and sorting!  And of course, Jax had to get in on the fun again!  I love that he tries to teach her as well!

RRSP: Letter Ss

Even though it is still nice outside, we managed to stay on track with Tot School.  This week we learned about the letter Ss.  And Ss is for Space!

First we used Confessions of a Homeschooler K4 Letter Hunt worksheets to find the letter S.  I love that I can send PDF's to the iPad.  Saves on paper!

[[posterous-content:meeuknuzjBBgzpqibgCn]]

We painted our Bible verse from RRSP.

[[posterous-content:gwHjlbatJCtrwiohjoGg]]

Cutting, sorting and glueing objects in space.  By far his favorie activity!  This was from the Preschool Pack Solar System from 1+1+1=1.

[[posterous-content:fvlIwubsBwoxpjGEegwE]]

We made a moon.  I just used shaving cream and glue (Same idea when we did the Weather Theme.)  He loved this.  He calls it "messy hands!"  When the glue dried, it has some great texture...like the craters on the moon!

[[posterous-content:JJByfrlJtxBGADlixFgj]]

Practicing drawing shapes.  (I just got this workbook at the $1 store.)

[[posterous-content:bIhInAjntFGhddphIGBc]]

Cutting out his Bible verse from RRSP.  (Ingnore Miss Julie in the background.  She was getting into the workboxes.)

[[posterous-content:GDupDnIDDCffuHfInhJx]]

We practiced writing the letter Ss from RRSP.  And Julianne was trying to "draw" as well.

[[posterous-content:xFhbCHxgcgBDCccdvnaE]]We played a matching shapes game from 1+1+1=1.

[[posterous-content:FwewbftBsmgoetpnnupp]]

We worked on our RRSP craft of cutting and glueing.

[[posterous-content:aanyxnFtiltDGImpuroj]]

We also worked on counting with a $1 store workbook.

[[posterous-content:HvpGGmswoxmvkuAxlhri]]Reviewing our past sight words with the preletter writing worksheet.

[[posterous-content:rCoqzniFDkuwaahIIBBk]]Planet maze from 2 Teaching Mommies.

[[posterous-content:xegabvnkBEFmkyFgEzpn]]We worked on a review of our YCR sight word puzzles.

Tuesday (13th)

Don't eat the blue chalk -advice from Julianne.  You can read more about our day here.

Img_0287

Wednesday (14th)

"I'm so happy, Momma!"  I heard this multiple times today while he was playing with his slide and tiny pool.

Img_0299
Thursday (15th)

Picnic lunch outside!

Friday (16th)

We caught the kids playing with the iPad.  Jax was taking pictures of Julianne with it.  How cute!

Saturday (17th)

No picture.  It was a grocery/errand day.

Img_0346
Sunday (18th)

Julianne was putting sausages in her toes at dinner time.  Notice how she has to be strapped in during meal time...she would climb on top of the table!

Img_0359
Monday (19th)

We ran to Walmart to get Jax a new booster seat for the car.  He's finally grown out of his car seat!  And so has Julianne!  Getting one bulky carseat out of the back seat gives us so much more room!

No Project Life Layout this week.  It's on my goals list for this week!
